Fouad Laroui

is from Oujda, Morocco. After studying at Lycée Lyautey in Casablanca, he got a degree in Civil Engeneering at the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in France; then he became researcher in Economics in England and Belgium earning a Ph.D. in Economic Sciences in Paris. He lives in Amsterdam, where he teaches in three colleges: French, Arabian and Media Studies. He has published several novels and collections of short stories. In 2013 he was awarded the Prix Goncourt de la Nouvelle for L’Etrange Affaire du Pantalon de Dassoukine, while L’esteta radicale was awarded the Premio Alziator 2013. Recently he was awarded the Grande Médaille de la Francophonie 2014.
